You helped save 28 orangutan lives

We are so grateful to you—our incredible community of Wildlife Warriors. Because of your generosity, 28 precious orangutans now have a second chance at life. Thank you for being their hero!

Last month, our dedicated BORA rescue team worked tirelessly to save 28 precious orangutans as their forest home in East Kalimantan was destroyed for coal mining. Sadly, we had no power to protect their forest home. Rescue was our only option to save as many lives as possible.

And with every tree that fell, their world crumbled around them. But thanks to your unwavering support, we could save them.

With your help, 19 females and 9 males– including 7 tiny babies– were rescued. Each one was carefully located and brought to safety. After thorough medical checks to ensure their wellbeing, they were relocated to protected forests in the Busang-Wehea Ecosystem in Borneo. Here, they can live wild and free, safe from harm.

This video shows Elise, one of our amazing vets, checking the health of a rescued cheek padder male.

One heartbreaking rescue was a tiny baby who had been abandoned. Her mother, overcome with fear during the relocation, was seen fleeing across a river in distress. Sadly, she never returned. This sweet baby is now safe at our BORA rescue center, where she will begin her journey of recovery. With your continued support, she can one day return to the forest where she belongs. These orangutans have faced unimaginable horrors, but because of you, they have been saved from a tragic fate. Your kindness has given them back their future.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping to protect these incredible beings. Thanks to you, they have a second chance at life. They are now safe and free in a protected forest, where they can live their best orangutan lives. 🧡
