We have incredible news to share with you! Paluy, a brave orangutan rescued from the brink of survival, is now free once again in the jungles of Borneo!
This heartwarming milestone wouldn’t have been possible without your generosity, and we are so happy to share such a tremendous story of recovery.
A victim of human-orangutan conflict, Paluy was rescued from a palm oil plantation. He was starving, terrified, and suffering from severe injuries to his eyes and ears. At approximately 18-years-old, Paluy weighed only 40 kg. He was dangerously underweight and fighting for his life.
Thanks to your generosity, Paluy received the urgent medical care, nutritious food, and compassionate support he needed to recover. Over five months, he regained his strength and reached a healthy weight of 65kg. With your help, Paluy was ready to reclaim his place in the wild.
In Early January, Paluy embarked on a 13-hour journey to the forest. While he was shy at first to leave his transport crate, he soon ventured out to explore his new home—a moment of pure joy and triumph.
Watch this incredible moment in the video below:
As a cheek padder, Paluy may soon (and hopefully) attract some female orangutans. This would be an excellent step forward, contributing to the growth of the wild orangutan population!
None of this would have been possible without your support. Your kindness and dedication made Paluy’s rescue, recovery, and return to the wild a reality. On behalf of Paluy and our entire team, thank you for believing in our mission and for giving him the second chance he deserved.
Together, we are creating a future where orangutans like Paluy can thrive in their natural habitats. Thank you for being part of this incredible journey 🧡
