Thanks to YOU, our incredible community, Mary, Jojo and Bonti have returned to the forest– where they belong!
Mary, Jojo and Bonti have been the best of pals while readying for their release into the wild!
On January 11th, these three gorgeous girls embarked on a 10 hour journey to freedom. Travelling by car and boat, they were released together in the Busang ecosystem in Borneo.
The girls are the best of friends, having formed a close bond at Jungle School together. Together they learned their jungle survival skills, readying for their return to the wild.
In October last year, Mary and Jojo joined Bonti on the forested pre-release island, where they spent time adjusting to the forest and honing their forest skills. The girls immediately found Bonti, and together they explored their new level of freedom and independence.
And now, they are free!
Mary– a fearless explorer
Mary instantly took to her new home, and in true Mary style she ventured straight over to Jojo’s release area and cheekily broke the celebration banner!
Mary confidently began exploring the treetops, foraged for forest foods and even built a secure nest high up in the canopy for her very first night in the wild.

Jojo– star of the forest
Jojo is a true orangutan champ, and absolutely loved her first moments in her new forest home. She ventured out of her transport crate and straight up into the canopy to explore!
Jojo has remained close with her bestie Mary since their release, spending time playing and resting together—a beautiful display of their bond.

Bonti– thriving in the wild
After excelling in Jungle School and perfecting her forest skills on the pre-release island, Bonti is now thriving in her new forest home.
Bonti ran straight up into the canopy when she was released, excited to check out her surroundings. Watch this very heart warming video of Bonti in her very first moments of jungle life here.
