Your support has been a lifeline to injured orangutans in our recent appeal
In loving memory of Ilham
It’s with a heavy heart that we share the sad news of Ilham’s passing.
We recently shared Ilham’s story after he was rescued in a serious condition. He was starving, had a severe eye injury and a painful prolapsed rectum. He required immediate medical attention.
Our wonderful supporters rallied behind him, and Ilham was able to receive the urgent surgeries he desperately needed. After multiple surgeries with many complications, we are devastated with the news that Ilham has passed away.
Thanks to the support of our compassionate community, Ilham had a chance at survival. His loving care was made possible by everyone who generously donated, and we couldn’t be more grateful. ♥️
Although this news is heartbreaking, Ilham is no longer suffering. Nest in Peace Ilham ♥️
Our recent rescue Husein, has received urgent medical care
In late September, our team rescued Husein from the side of the road. He had many deep cuts on his legs and hands, an open wound on his face, and tragically, he had lost his sight. The wounds on his legs indicate he may have been tied up, and kept as an illegal family pet.
Thanks to the support of our generous donors, Husein was able to receive immediate, life-saving care.
Upon arriving at our BORA rescue centre, Husein was x-rayed, had multiple tests done and his painful wounds were urgently treated. He is slowly recovering, while awaiting the results of several tests.
Husein is quite dependent on his carers for food, and waits patiently to be fed by the team. He’s very calm, and uses his lips to feel around and find his food. He can climb and hang, and occasionally climbs up to a hammock to rest.
Husein’s story is heartbreaking, and we are so grateful to our supporters who made his rescue possible. He still requires so much care and attention, and he has a long journey ahead of him.
You can help orangutans like Husein receive life-saving medical care. Your support will ensure they receive the emergency surgeries, 24-hour care, medicine and nourishing food they need to survive and recover.
